RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A routine motor vehicle stop conducted by members of the Ridgewood Police Department Detective Bureau on the afternoon of Thursday, July 10, 2025, led to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle and the arrest of its driver, authorities confirmed.
The incident unfolded behind Somerville Elementary School, located at 45 South Pleasant Avenue, around mid-afternoon. During the stop, officers identified the motorcycle as having been reported stolen, and apprehended the operator, who is suspected of driving without a valid license.
No Threat to School Community
Police emphasized that no children were present on school grounds during the incident, and there was no threat to public safety.
“This was a proactive response by our detectives that led to a quick resolution,” the Ridgewood Police Department said in a statement.
Following the arrest, Ridgewood Patrol Division officers transported the suspect to Ridgewood PD headquarters for processing. A flatbed tow truck was dispatched to remove the impounded motorcycle from the school premises.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the stolen vehicle and the suspect’s driving status. Additional charges may be pending based on the outcome of the investigation.
