Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police announce progress since announcing amnesty for returning stolen street signs . So far over 20 Village signs have been returned to the Police Department , all except for one from the West Side of Town.
As a reminder signs can be dropped off at the Ridgewood Police Department until September 15th without consequences. After that date anyone found in possession of Village property will be charged with theft and prosecuted. We thank our residents for for assisting us with recovering the signs.

So all of this commotion was for 21 street signs? Seriously?
10:23 am street signs do cost money and this is payed for by the taxpayer, it may not be much but you may yell the loudest as to why your money is wasted.
Seems like since these are paid for by taxpayers anyone caught and prosecuted with a street sign would have a decent claim of right defense
Are you kidding 11:31 What law school sis you attend ?
All but 1 are Westside Streets. Interesting.
Its those dam people east of the railroad tracks. They can’t afford to live here so the best they can do is take our signs.
Why would anyone want those signs? Can’t they afford Home Goods?
Maybe a scavenger game of Monopoly.
10:45 am I am not concerned about a few signs. I would rather not have my tax money wasted by local government getting involved in everyone’s personal life. Maintain the infrastructure, provide essential services and stop the drama. Do we really need people going around checking on grass height and sprinkler use? They do not need to respond to every crackpot complaint made by nosy neighbors. I can’t remember the last time I saw a cop patrolling the streets. Instead, they escort PSE&G and the tree workers around town. Ridgewood is the joke of Bergen County.
this is getting good. so much bull shit on the news about this town, get real. look what is going on over the river. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,
My street sign was stolen twice. Do I win?
No Anon just do whatever you want its ok because your a taxpayer. You don’t have to follow the law like the rest of us. I guess you spend your day just looking out the widow waiting for that cop car to ride pass your home.
Anon has the greenest grass in ridgewood and its growing like mad. Can’t keep up with cutting it because he looking for the police car to ride by.
Maybe it was just a contest. Let’s see what the other player has.
I was waiting for the obligatory “if you don’t like it, move” comment. Same BS lemming mentality. Do you really think we need an ordinance on grass height? Your quality of life will be adversely effected by your neighbor’s landscaping? As they say in France, “BLOW ME!”
So without signs on the west side, you have to give directions like this. Once you return to the paved roadway. Go under man made dividing line with choo choo on top, turn right at the home of guy who wants hospital expansion on the east side of town and turn left at the home of guy who wants 90′ baseball diamond on the far east side of town.
Go to France.
7:12 a more eloquent way to put it would be, locks keep honest people honest. As a side note, the Village did a better job getting street signs back than the quarters from the counting room.
