Teaneck NJ, The man famously accused of swiping a rare, high-end mandolin in New Jersey is back in the headlines—but this time, the stakes have shifted from music shops to the high-stakes world of luxury wine and fine art.

Stevan Milovanovic, a 35-year-old Serbian national, illegally living in the US, was arrested in Miami on March 1, 2026, following a sophisticated crime spree that spanned from the elite restaurants of Brickell to high-end galleries in the Miami Design District.

The Miami Luxury Heist: $56,000 in Stolen Goods

According to reports from NBC6, Milovanovic’s latest legal troubles began at the trendy Sexy Fish restaurant in Miami. Authorities allege that Milovanovic infiltrated the restaurant’s restricted wine cellar, pocketing a bottle of Monopole 1996 La Tâche valued at roughly $16,000. In a brazen act of misdirection, he reportedly swapped the stolen bottle with another from the shelf to delay discovery.

After exiting the restaurant, Milovanovic was caught on surveillance footage entering a red Jeep Wrangler. Following his apprehension, authorities say he confessed to a second major crime: the theft of a $40,000 piece of art from the renowned Galeries Bartoux.

A Nationwide Trail of Charges

This Miami arrest is just the latest chapter in a series of alleged crimes that have tracked Milovanovic across the country:

  • Bergen County, NJ (December 2025): Milovanovic was charged in connection with two separate shoplifting incidents, including the theft of a $7,500 mandolin from Lark Street Music in Teaneck and a separate $5,700 retail theft in Englewood.

  • Colorado (January 2026): He was arrested for the theft of nearly $1,000 in merchandise from a Walmart.

  • Miami, FL (March 2026): Currently held at the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Center, facing charges of burglary of an occupied structure, second-degree grand theft, and third-degree grand theft.

Legal Status and Immigration Hold

Milovanovic remains in custody at the Miami-Dade jail. Beyond his criminal charges, jail records confirm he is currently being held for immigration authorities, which may complicate his pending legal proceedings in both Florida and New Jersey.

As this story develops, it serves as a stark reminder of the reach of modern law enforcement in tracking suspects across state lines. Stay tuned to this space for further updates on the legal fallout from these high-profile thefts.
