Hackensack NJ, patrons of P.F. Chang’s China Bistro at The Shops at Riverside Mall in Hackensack, New Jersey, were surprised to find the restaurant closed. According to a spokesperson from the city of Hackensack, the closure was due to concerns regarding the restaurant’s hood fire suppression system.

What Happened?

The City Hackensack Fire Department took action to temporarily shut down P.F. Chang’s after discovering that their hood fire suppression system was not functioning properly. This crucial system is designed to control and suppress fires that may occur in the cooking area.

“If a fire had broken out in the cooking area, there would have been no suppression system in place to contain it,” explained the city spokesperson.

Efforts to contact P.F. Chang’s management for immediate clarification were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Current Status and Future Steps

The city spokesperson further disclosed that the restaurant is now in the process of completing necessary paperwork for their permits. Once this paperwork is finalized, the plumbing inspector will conduct required inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

A notice labeled “Order to Vacate,” dated July 2, was prominently displayed on the restaurant’s entrance, signaling the closure to the public.

Reopening Plans

Fortunately, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for P.F. Chang’s fans in Hackensack. Final inspections by the fire department are scheduled for Tuesday, which, if successful, will pave the way for the restaurant to reopen its doors.

Community Impact

The temporary closure affects one of the nine P.F. Chang’s locations across New Jersey. For local residents and frequent visitors, this pause serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and maintaining operational standards to ensure the well-being of patrons and employees alike.

As developments unfold, patrons are encouraged to stay tuned for updates from P.F. Chang’s management regarding the reopening date and any additional measures taken to address the fire safety issue.
