FAIR LAWN, NJ – North Jersey is once again taking the spotlight on the national stage! A local talent, Matthew Pellicano Jr., a fourth-grade student from Lyncrest Elementary School in Fair Lawn, is now gracing the big screen, starring as the younger version of the legendary Bruce Springsteen in the new biopic, “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.”
The film, which chronicles the making of Springsteen’s raw and introspective 1982 Nebraska album, hit theaters on October 24, 2025. Pellicano’s role as “Young Bruce” shines a light on the Boss’s childhood roots right here in New Jersey.
The Young Star’s Big Break
Matthew Pellicano Jr. captured the iconic look of the early Springsteen, complete with the essential leather jacket and guitar, earning high praise for his performance.
Reflecting on his debut film experience, Pellicano shared his gratitude on the Fair Lawn Public Schools’ Instagram page:
“It was an honor to work with him. Everyone made me feel safe and comfortable on set. They were all so kind to me. This is my first movie, so they made me feel at home.”
The biographical drama, which stars Jeremy Allen White as the adult Bruce Springsteen, is an intimate look at a pivotal time in the musician’s life, and young Pellicano’s scenes provide emotional depth by showcasing the singer’s formative years.
Bergen County Cheers on Its Own
The local excitement is palpable, with Bergen County leaders celebrating Pellicano’s success as a win for the entire community.
Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco personally lauded the young actor:
“This is truly a special moment for Bergen County… to see one of our own, Matthew from Fair Lawn, portraying a young Bruce Springsteen makes it all the more special. Matthew is showing the world the kind of talent and spirit that comes out of our community.”
Tedesco also highlighted the family connection, noting that Matthew’s mother, Breanne, is a valued and integral member of his county administration, making the achievement “especially close to home.”
The Bergen County community is enthusiastically backing their newest star, who is already making his home state proud by bringing a New Jersey legend’s story to life.
