Driven by historic regional celebrations—including the New York Knicks championship parade, summer World Cup matches, and the nation’s 250th Fourth of July birthday—June 2026 saw 5.9 million passengers travel across the region. This represents a 14% increase compared to June 2025 and marks the busiest single month for the transit system since March 2020.

Several major factors aligned to push PATH ridership to post-pandemic highs:
1. The Knicks Championship Parade Victory Surge
On Thursday, June 18, lower Manhattan turned blue and orange for the Knicks’ victory parade. PATH moved 252,272 passengers on this single day—marking the highest single-day ridership of the month and outpacing average June weekdays by nearly 30,000 riders.
2. Expanded Weekend & 7-Day Service Upgrades
Following the rollout of PATH’s largest weekend service expansion in a generation, weekend ridership shattered all-time records:

4. World Cup Watch Parties & NJ Transit Cross-Honoring
During eight match days at New York New Jersey Stadium throughout June and July, PATH served as a critical secondary transit artery. PATH cross-honored over 30,000 diverted NJ Transit customers affected by matchday service changes, keeping regional travel fluid.
