The Ridgewood Post Office is doing a terrible job. They have messed up our mail so much that bills are never delivered and we are charged late fees through no fault of our own. My husband went to the RPO – which doesn’t open until after 10 am. by the way – and complained.

The Postmaster couldn’t have been more disinterested and unsympathetic and said that we are the end of the route and his mail carriers don’t like walking to our block. What? If we did our jobs, like they did theirs we’d be fired! Whatever happened to their motto “through rain or snow or sleet or hail the Postal Service will never fail”?

It’s funny – sad really – how the junk mail that we don’t ask for or need always seems to find us. But not the important stuff. Can someone help us?

  1. When you’re a monopoly, you can afford to give shitty service and still stay in business. Just like the Village of Ridgewood . . .

  2. I have no problems with them whatsoever.

My mail comes on time and my postman is friendly.
When I need to go to the post office, the lines move fast and the service is prompt and courteous.

The only real issue I have with the RW Post Office is that there is no parking, although the 15 minute parking spots outside do help and I often find one of those spots available when I need to go there.

  3. We didn’t get any mail yesterday. Normally we get 4-5 items even if they are junk. Wondering whether our mailman took the day off.

  4. For years we haven’t received all of our mail. We also get neighbors mail regularly and I joke that we have a weekly block party to exchange mail, but sometimes we get mail from across town and three and four blocks away. I complained to our mail carrier and it seems to have improved. But, I do keep a spreadsheet of regular bills that are mailed so I can make sure we are receiving our mail.

  5. The best solution to this is to abandon mail-based bill paying and do it all online. I switched to online bill paying years ago. It is 100-percent reliable and saves all the messing around buying stamps, writing checks, and worrying about whether your incoming and outgoing mail is being managed properly.

  6. I get mail for a similarly numbered house on a different street all the time. I just drop it in the mail box on my way to the train. Eventually the sorter’s buzz wears off and he / she gets it right.
