Ridgewood NJ, The Village Council is looking for residents who are interested in volunteering to serve on the following Boards and Committees: Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, The Ridgewood Community Center Advisory Board, The Financial Advisory Committee, and The Ridgewood Arts Council.
The Planning Board reviews site plans and subdivision applications; prepares, adopts, and amends the Master Plan; makes recommendations to the Village Council regarding amendments to developmental regulations and the official map.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears variance applications and appeals from rulings and determinations arising from the enforcement of Village zoning ordinances.
The Ridgewood Arts Council will assist in the promotion of and encourage artistic and cultural programs and will provide for educational opportunities in the areas of art and culture. The Ridgewood Arts Council will also provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to the Village Council, as needed.
Respectful suggestion and recommendations are rarely appreciated. Oh well, the “Status Quo” preservation people are the cause for lack of volunteers.
News Watch seems to have time on his hands so why not volunteer for something.
I volunteered, and was interviewed, but the “status Quo” contingent objected to my participation. Which is funny, I’m actually anti overdevelopment (I saw what happened in Hoboken), and I thought I would get opposition from the other side.
You never know.
Bottom line: if you are not connected in some way, don’t waste your time. They are like lawyers trying to build a friendly jury. And I can’t say for sure, because I wasn’t picked to serve, but I suspect the experience is less than enjoyable because they always seem to need to backfill their volunteer corps.
