Oakland NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced charges against KYLE WEICHELT (DOB: 10/22/1990; single; unemployed) of 20 E. Broad Street, Bergenfield, NJ), MARCOS RODRIGUEZ (DOB: 09/16/1986; single; unemployed) of 149 Gordon Avenue, Clifton, NJ, and THOMAS CABRERA (DOB: 01/22/1997; single; unemployed) of 222 West Clinton Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ for Witness Tampering and Conspiracy to Commit Witness Tampering. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Oakland Police Department under the direction of Captain Keith Sanzari, Officer in Charge.

On May 30, 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad received information that Kyle WEICHELT and Marcos RODRIGUEZ, who are currently incarcerated in the Bergen County Jail, contacted Thomas CABRERA and conspired with him to tamper with a witness from a recent armed home invasion investigation in Oakland, NJ.

On Friday, May 31, 2019, arrest warrants were issued, and WEICHELT, RODRIGUEZ, and CABRERA were each charged with one count of Witness Tampering, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:28-5A(1), a 1st degree crime; and one count of Conspiracy To Commit Witness Tampering, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A(1)/2C:28-5A(1), a 2nd degree crime.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would also like to thank the following law enforcement agencies for their assistance in this investigation: Oakland Police Department, Bergenfield Police Department, Wayne Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
