Leonia NJ, On Thursday night, just after 10:30 PM, fire units from Teaneck, Leonia, and Englewood responded to a significant incident on the Interstate 95 Express lanes.
Englewood firefighters were dispatched to Interstate 95 Northbound near Broad Avenue, where a multi-vehicle accident involving numerous tractor-trailers had occurred. The scene was chaotic, with a large diesel fuel spill that needed immediate containment. Firefighters from Teaneck and Leonia joined forces with Englewood to secure the area and manage the spill.
Simultaneously, Englewood was called to assist the City of Hackensack with an “All Hands” fire in a storage unit. Due to the dual emergencies, a full platoon recall was requested to ensure adequate coverage while teams were deployed at both scenes.
Englewood EMS transported multiple patients from the accident site. Despite the challenging circumstances, all units worked efficiently and effectively to manage the situation and clean up the extensive fluid spill. The scene was eventually handed over to the NJ Turnpike Authority and NJ State Police.
