River Edge NJ, Step back in time and celebrate George Washington’s Birthday with the Bergen County Historical Society on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1 PM to 4:30 PM at Historic New Bridge Landing (1201 Main Street, River Edge, NJ). This exciting event offers a unique Revolutionary War experience filled with historical performances, interactive exhibits, and family-friendly activities.

Experience History Through Dance and Music

Enjoy a captivating hour-long performance by the Tricorne Dance Ensemble, led by dance mistress Denise Piccino, celebrating General Washington through song and dance. Performances take place in the 1752 Steuben House at 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM, accompanied by Ridley and Anne Enslow on the fiddle and hammered dulcimer. Space is limited, so arrive early!

Explore Revolutionary War Artifacts & More

Inside the Steuben House, visitors can view selections from the Bergen County Historical Society’s Washington Collection, including authentic Revolutionary War artifacts.

Savor 18th-Century Flavors

Visit the authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen, where interpreters will be preparing cherry pie, herb-crusted beef on a spit, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, white sauce, and marzipan fruits—all made using 18th-century recipes. Seasonal refreshments will also be available for purchase in the tavern.

Interactive Activities & Military Demonstrations

  • Meet Reenactors from the 3rd NJ Greys, showcasing 18th-century military life.
  • Join the Washington-Themed Scavenger Hunt – win a special prize!
  • Try the QR Code History Challenge, an engaging cell phone-based scavenger hunt that lets visitors scan QR codes to watch videos and answer questions about the historic site.

  • Tickets: $12 adults, $7 students, BCHS members free.
  • 100% of donations go toward supporting historical preservation.
  • Parking: Free on-site parking available.
  • Public Transit: Take the train to the New Bridge Landing station on the Pascack Valley Line.
  • Pets: Dogs on leashes are welcome on site but not inside buildings.
