Montvale NJ, get ready, Bergen County foodies and shoppers! The Chestnut Ridge Shopping Center in Montvale, NJ, is on the brink of a major revitalization, potentially welcoming four highly anticipated new businesses.

Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali announced on November 18th that applications for a quartet of popular retail and dining brands—Trader Joe’s, Shake Shack, CAVA, and Honeygrow—are heading to the Borough Planning Board for review.

If approved, this influx of sought-after options promises to make the Chestnut Ridge Shopping Center a primary destination for residents across North Jersey!

The Big Reveal: What’s Coming to Montvale?

Mayor Ghassali confirmed the exciting news, highlighting the community benefit of these potential additions: “I am pleased to share several exciting additions coming to our community, bringing even more options for dining and shopping.”

The following applications are slated for review by the Montvale Planning Board:

  • Trader Joe’s: The beloved specialty grocery store, famous for its unique products and low prices, is looking to establish its presence in the area. If approved, this would become the 21st Trader Joe’s location in New Jersey, joining nearby Bergen County stores in Edgewater, Paramus, and Westwood.

  • Shake Shack: The hugely popular American fast-casual restaurant chain, known for its gourmet burgers, hot dogs, and frozen custard.

  • CAVA: A rapidly expanding Mediterranean fast-casual chain offering build-your-own bowls, pitas, and salads.

  • Honeygrow: A quick-service eatery specializing in wholesome, fully customizable stir-fries, salads, and honeybars.

The Planning Board Meeting: What Happens Next?

The fate of these major retail additions rests with the Montvale Planning Board.

  • Date and Time: The applications will be heard on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. EST.

  • Location: The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Municipal Complex Building, 12 DePiero Drive.

Mayor Ghassali encouraged residents interested in the proposals to attend the meeting. An official update on the outcome will be posted following the hearing.

Revitalizing Chestnut Ridge Shopping Center

The Chestnut Ridge Shopping Center, owned by Regency Centers, is already a key retail hub serving Montvale and surrounding Bergen County communities. It currently houses a supermarket, various eateries, and the Drop Fitness gym.

The addition of these four major brands would significantly enhance the center’s appeal, turning it into a high-demand retail cluster and offering residents much-needed variety in grocery and dining choices. The move aligns with the trend of maximizing the utility of suburban shopping centers by bringing in top-tier anchor tenants and popular fast-casual concepts.

Mayor Ghassali’s Statement: “We are delighted to have more options and choices for our community… [We remain] optimistic about the site’s eventual redevelopment and the opportunities it can bring to our community.”

Keep your eyes on Montvale! This December decision could reshape the local dining and shopping scene for years to come.

  1. The CAVA Midtown Slop Bowl makes its way to Bergen County! Line up at the PIG TROUGH and get your slop, piggies! Feeding time, sooo weeee

  2. Welcome Trader Joe’s, goodbye to the overpriced Fresh Market. We have been there twice in 25 years. It’s clean inside but the prices are well above new local specialty stores within a mile like Whole Foods and Wegman’s.
