While we warm ourselves up in coats and jackets, Dubai attracts us to wear our best swimsuits. Holidays in Dubai in winter are unusually pleasant. Comfortable temperatures prevail at the resorts, caravans move smoothly through the deserts, and trade is in full swing in the city center.
The average temperature in Dubai during the winter is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is not surprising that during the winter months the flow of tourists rushes there. In addition, it is in the “cold” season Dubai can offer its guests a completely unique entertainment: desert safaris and skiing or sandboarding from dunes, horse racing, pearl fishing, world championships – everything that makes the winter in Dubai even brighter.
COVID and restrictions
Upon arrival in Dubai, a Covid test is performed at the airport. It is free of charge and the result can be tracked on the special app called PH Screening.
Masks must be worn everywhere except the beach and the restaurants. Shopping centers, restaurants, supermarkets work and there are no restrictions on the maximum number of people there. At the desert excursions, everyone is allowed to be without masks.
Transport
Dubai is a big city not always suitable for walking. It is more convenient to get from one area to another by public transport. It runs according to a schedule and is quite comfortable. However, the interval between buses is up to 30 minutes.
The Dubai Metro is a fairly progressive transport, because the movement of trains is automatic, and the driver’s cabin is simply absent. The first (on the way to the new district) or the last (on the way back) train is a VIP, you can get in only with a gold transport card.
Don’t want to take the subway? You can use car rental in Bur Dubai service to travel freely around the town.
The city cab network is widespread as well: Cabs here are beige cars with colored roofs. The black roof is a VIP cab, the pink one is a woman’s cab and there is also an Uber app working pretty actively around town.
What to wear?
Almost everywhere there is information that in the Arab Emirates the appearance of both women and men is quite strict. It is always recommended to wear dresses/pants that cover your knees, and do not flaunt with a deep cleavage. Respecting the traditions of the locals is important. Plus, if you wear an outfit that is too revealing, they might not let you into the mall/restaurant. And you’ll feel more comfortable not catching judgmental looks on the street.
Dubai Shopping
Dubai is a paradise for the shopaholic no matter what time of year it is, but in January something extraordinary happens here. More than two million people flock to the Emirate for the month-long Dubai Shopping Festival. It reminds us of a lot of European fairs and festivals like the Munich Fair: decorated streets, bright lights, carnival processions. And, of course, huge discounts. Dubai, the world capital of shopping, in winter gathers a lot of people wishing to shop – prices, already low by European standards, are even lower by 70%. In addition, there are raffles of gold bullion, cash, and car prizes.
Holidays with kids
It is advisable to go to Dubai with the whole family in the winter holidays. At this time in the city it is not so hot, so kids can have a good rest. Accommodation at the resort can be in family hotels, where the guests are offered a children’s menu, high chairs, animators. The coastline of most beaches is protected by a breakwater, so the rest here is safe, even with small kids.
In terms of entertainment, Dubai is suitable for children of all ages. Children will find Wild Wadi Water Park, Dubai Zoo, Aquarium in Dubai Mall, Dolphin Bay, Wonderland theme park.
