-

| New Jersey | Passaic (Western/Eastern), Bergen, Essex, Union, Hudson |
| New York | Rockland, Northern Westchester |
| Connecticut | Northern Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, New London |
Crucial Safety: “Travel Could Be Impossible”
Authorities are urging residents to delay all non-essential travel. The combination of heavy, wet snow and high winds creates a high risk for downed tree limbs and power lines, meaning sporadic outages are likely.
If You Must Drive: The Winter Survival Checklist
If travel is absolutely necessary, do not leave your home without these essentials in your vehicle:
-
Emergency Kit: High-calorie snacks, bottled water, and a first-aid kit.
-
Supplies: A high-quality ice scraper, a small shovel, and a flashlight with extra batteries.
-
Warmth: Extra blankets, winter boots, and gloves.
-
Safety: Jumper cables and road flares or reflective triangles.
Pro Tip: Keep your gas tank at least half full. Not only does this prevent fuel line freeze-ups, but it ensures you can run the engine for warmth if you become stranded.
Safe Driving Tactics for Heavy Snow
-
Increase Following Distance: Allow at least 5 to 6 seconds between you and the car ahead.
-
Avoid Sudden Inputs: No sudden braking or acceleration; this is the quickest way to lose traction.
-
Be Gentle on Hills: Don’t try to “power up” hills; apply steady pressure and maintain momentum.
-
Clear Your Car: Completely remove snow and ice from all windows, mirrors, and the roof to prevent “snow missiles” from hitting other drivers.
Home Preparation
Before the snow starts on Sunday morning:
-
Charge your devices and portable power banks.
-
Flashlights ready: Ensure they are in a central location.
-
Fridge Check: Turn your refrigerator to its coldest setting now to preserve food longer if the power fails.

Coffee time
Don’t worry, your foreman will take care of the coffee, or if you prefer hot tea or hot chocolate, no problem
Stop drinking and posting please.
so much for that global warming hoax
You post that stale and stupid line every time it snows. Please stop embarrassing yourself.
go back to brooklyn with your electric (coal powered) car
I’ll go back to NYC if you promise to read a science periodical, get a job, and stop living in your parents basement.
Funny, the educated folks who follow science don’t feel the need to go “HaHa, I told you global warming is real when it is 95 degrees for 3 straight days”
Ridgewood did a terrible job plowing the streets. I noticed it the last storm also. They don’t clear the entirety of the street and the corners. Ridiculous with the taxes we pay.
Go back to the city. Clearly you have no idea how it all works. I live on Manor and work in Mahwah. Our roads are some of the best around.
