Ridgewood, NJ – Following the severe storms and flooding earlier this week, Maple Field and several Ridgewood sports fields remain closed for safety and restoration, according to Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark.
Heavy rains on Monday night left significant damage, including creased and waterlogged areas on Maple Field and flooding in parts of Ridgewood High School Stadium and Steven’s Field.
🚫 Maple Field Closed for Sports Until Further Notice
The Village has temporarily closed Maple Field for all sports activities while cleanup and restoration take place. Certain areas of the field need to fully dry before crews can safely repair the infield and other damaged sections.
However, summer camp will resume on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with unaffected areas of Maple Field still available for camper drop-off and pick-up only.
🏟 High School Stadium & Steven’s Field Impacted
In a letter to the community, Ridgewood Public Schools announced that the RHS Stadium Field and part of Steven’s Field are also temporarily closed. Crews are assessing damage and working to ensure a safe walking route to and from the school and unaffected areas.
🔄 Alternate Practice & Camp Locations Identified
To minimize disruption, alternate locations for voluntary athletic practices and summer sports camps have already been arranged. Coaches and camp organizers will contact families directly with updated schedules and locations.
✅ Safety is the Top Priority
“The safety of our campers, athletes, and families is paramount,” said Village Manager Keith Kazmark, emphasizing the importance of thorough inspections before reopening any fields. Regular updates will be shared as repairs progress.
📢 What’s Next?
Village crews will continue working to clean, dry, and restore all impacted fields while coordinating with school officials. Patience is appreciated as Ridgewood works diligently to bring all facilities back to safe, playable conditions.

“safety and restoration”
That’s a catchy phrase.
Like ‘hope and change’ !
How about someone add up all the money it cost the village in the past 10 years to repair all these fields that got flooded in low line areas
Look at all the resources working on restoration over and over again.
Keep on paying your taxes, how many times these fields have been replaced major repaired, one thing they’ll never get worn out from use, because they’re always getting damaged from storms. Enjoy.
