Upper Saddle River NJ,  Councilman Douglas Rotella announced his resignation Tuesday, after serving two years on the council. He will be moving to Long Beach Island, Mayor Joanne Minichetti said.

Rotella was appointed to the Borough Council in April 2019 and was elected to a full three-year term the following November. He is the Class III member of the Planning Board and a member of the police and finance committees.

The borough’s Republican Municipal Committee has 15 days to recommend three possible candidates to take his seat on the council. The council will select the final candidate to be appointed to the open seat through the end of the year.
