RIDGEWOOD — A homeowner living near The Valley Hospital isn’t buying an expert’s statement that her 100-year-old house is done settling and won’t be affected by proposed construction that would more than double the size of the hospital.

The project would require nearly 11,250 trucks to cart out about 170,000 cubic yards of soil and rock while up to 300,000 gallons of water would be pumped out of the area daily, said Moustafa Gouda, director of Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering Services at Maser Consulting in Red Bank, at the Planning Board meeting Monday night.

Gouda, who was hired by the hospital, said Valley will “control the blasting and dewatering and there’ll be no adverse effects to the homes.”

  1. If you say so it must be true.

  2. I find that Chris R. seems very anxious for this to begin. Does anyone know why?

  3. Mr. Gouda has never set foot on any land outside of Valley, yet is comfortable making grand predictions about the future of our neighborhood. Then he claims his assessment is “scientific”. Guessing is not scientific!!!

    1. claims like these do nothing but diminish Valley’s cause and make them look ridiculous

  4. Any Planning Board member that votes with Valley should be investigated. Valley’s argument gets more laughable by the week.

  5. how about we make Mr Gouda post a personal bond to cover any damages to surrounding homes. Let’s see if he changes his scientific opinion…
