Ridgewood NJ, A pregnant woman and her two (2) young children were struck by car as they crossed a busy Ridgewood street in a crosswalk on Thursday morning. The accident occurred at the intersection of South Monroe Street and Godwin Avenue as a Nissan SUV was making a left turn from South Monroe onto Godwin.
The woman and one of her children were transported to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with minor injuries. The other child was taken home by a family member. WTF is wrong with people in this town? Slow the F down!!! And PAY ATTENTION!!
General lack of traffic enforcement.
Can’t say I’m surprised. that intersection is a nightmare. Should be a light there
come on chief we need to put a light at that intersection.
I’ve never seen a town with more pedestrian strikes than Ridgewood what is going on?
No summons issued ?? wonder why
I hope they are OK. It is horrible driving in Ridgewood. There is too much traffic, everyone is in a hurry and it seems like everyone is multi-tasking when they are driving. Pedestrians also need to be careful and many of them are bopping not paying any attention. The traffic situation needs to be addressed and the proposed Valley expansion, new housing developments in the center of town will only add to this. Enough is enough!
There was a summons issued for failure to yield to ped in crosss walk. I read it on another blog.
If the intersection is improved, the county will require significant changes which will likely result in the need to condemn portions of residents property. The same thing will occur on Linwood if they improve N. Pleasant and Van Dien intersections.
