Jane Shinozuka , gives some back ground to readers .I’ve actually been been on the Planning Board for 17 months. True, not an eternity, but long enough to understand the issues. I didn’t even address the Valley issue specifically when I first entered the race – I waited until I was asked and simply gave an honest answer.
If you give me your email or mailing info I’d be happy to send you my campaign flyer. My list (from the flyer) of some of Ridgewood’s most pressing issues is copied and pasted below:
Responsible municipal spending
Caution regarding over-development and land use
Consistent attention to pedestrian safety
Revitalization of our downtown shopping area
Improved communication from Village Hall
Protecting our natural and open spaces
For your reference, I’ve also included my current community service activities. More detail about my past volunteer history can also be found on the flyer.
Ridgewoood Planning Board
BFMS Executive Board
Federated HSA Safety Committee
Salem Ridge Association Board of Governors
OLMC CCD Group Leader
I do have a website — www.ShinozukaForCouncil.com. Unfortunately, I’m not an expert at managing a site, so some of my most recent info is yet to be posted. I expect to fix all that within a day or so.
Thanks,
Jane Shinozuka
Wow, an honest politician. She’s got my vote!
Off point – I noticed last week that we fly two Ridgewood Lax flags at the HS field, but no American flag. In other settings an American flag is at the top and other flags below.
This speaks volumes about the school and the priorities that they have. Are there any adults in charge?
I have attended many Planning Board meetings in the past few years and I have been impressed with Jane Shinozuka. She does her homework, comes prepared and asks the correct questions. I believe that she genuinely has the best interest of the Village of Ridgewood at heart; no political agenda that I can detect. She seems to be answering to her conscience while aptly applying code and Master Plan. I don’t know where Jane stands on many issues but I also don’t know where any of the candidates stand on any of the issues. At least Jane’s vision for the Village aligns with mine so she will get my vote.
Yes, I think she sounds great. She will be a great addition to the council.
Ridgewood will get the government it deserves. If it were not for the CRR endorsement this candidate is 5th maybe 6th place potentially even worse than Forenza and her post here shows why. Yes I have her flyer and yes I have looked at her website. Unreal.
Can you be a bit more specific as to why you think Jane is unsuitable for Village Council?
Yes, 5, you seem to make no sense.
Out of the six candidates, only two are solidly pro-Village (i.e., anti-Renewal). One other (Aronsohn) can only be considered to be in that category depending on which way the wind is blowing. The other three are pro-Renewal.
It is true that Shinozuka has a large cohort of supporters ready to voter for her based soley on her anti-Renewal stance. However, this issue is so important and so ‘alive’ due to the fact that final approval for the Renewal plan is only one VC vote away from being a reality.
We just can’t afford to vote in candidates who are avowedly pro-Renewal. There is no shame in voting for candidates that reflect one’s current views on demonstrably unresolved issues.
