Former Fire Chief James Bombace still mad Gabbert didn’t hire his brother Mark

Ridgewood NJ, last night the The Village Council began the formal process of terminating Village Manager Ken Gabbert.
In a 3-2 vote, the council effectively suspended Gabbert starting Aug. 31 , with Riche and Walsh dissenting .
Gabbert’s controversial term as village manager started four years ago after Gabbert replaced James Ten Hoeve who following a string financial setbacks for the village and some personal reasons the council at the time lost confidence .
According to readers last nights meeting was a spectacle. Councilwomen Hauck said she voted to sack the Village Manager ” with her heart”. That is quite a statement especially since this is a personnel matter.
The pile on came when former fire chief Bombace skewered Gabbert because Gabbert did not make Bombace’s choice the new chief. Bombace of coarse neglected to mention that Bombace’s recommendation was his brother, Mark Bombace. The Village Manager gets fired so Jim Bombace piles on because he didn’t hire his brother. Amazing.
Another reader said Bombace was up to his usual antics last night , good thing there is increased security at the Village Hall .
The Village Council still must adopt a Final Resolution of Removal before Gabbert’s dismissal becomes official.

Last night was very upsetting. The fact that the Council did not ever ONCE discuss Mr. Gabbert’s work during a supposed probation period shows that Aronsohn never ever intended to keep him on. It is very upsetting to think that we have fallen so very low. There is absolutely no collegiality on the Council anymore, none at all. It is the three of them riding herd on the town. Depressing. I sat at my kitchen table watching this unfold and just thought that this is not the Ridgewood we used to know. And what was with the fire man and all his venom? That man was in charge of the fire department at one time?
Three people ran on a platform of change and the only change that has taken place is a acerbic and ethically questionable environment at City Hall. Paul Aronsohn is leading the Village to nowhere. Prophecy: the place crashes and Aonsohn moves on to his next government job. Which begs the question: does Aronsohn have a day job?
Crazy Ed Feldstott and Jim Bombace. That’s who are defending Paul’s decision. I guess this will give Bombace and Kime something to talk about on the Patch. Those two should just get a room and we’ll throw in Delgado for good measure.

I would suggest everyone who feels that the mayor is behaving outside the scope of his duties take to the mic and SAY SOMETHING. It will then be REPORTED. I would suggest opining to The Ridgewood News, but the mayor communicates with their reporters and editor regularly. In any case, it can’t hurt. Call the agencies that oversee the ethics of local government. ICMA in DC {202 962-3668}. GET INVOLVED. Paul Aronsohn could NEVER pull off Gabbert’s removal without Albert the bombastic clown and the lovely but vacuous Gwennie (nee Habernickel). If you’ve ever been to Valley Hospital, that name jumps right off the wing named for them. But don’t fret, her vote on the hospital is completely unbiased.

FYI # 1 His brother had submitted his retirement papers but had not retired. He offered to rescind his papers if he made Fire Chief.
Bombace is really going off the deep end. He uses multiple names when he post on PAUL’S PATCH. He actually talks to himself. What a nut job. I hope someday someone kick him when he’s down just like he did to Gabbert last night .
