Village of Ridgewood Building Department no Longer Accepts Anonymous Reports

Observations 1267017537

the staff of The Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, a member of our staff has just been informed that the Village of Ridgewood‘s Building Department will no longer accept anonymous notifications. Any complaint/report of apparent code violations MUST now be accompanied by the reporting individual’s name and telephone number.

We wonder why the Building Department has adopted this new policy, and we also wonder how many dangerous situations will now fail to be resolved because individuals who observe non-conformances to building codes/ordinances fear retribution.
We can only hope that the Ridgewood Police Department doesn’t adopt a similar policy.

  1. There are so many violations. Why should the resident have to put their name and phone # on an OBVIOUS violation of the code?
Are you looking to start neighbor hood wars with the LOSERS who don’t cut their grass, trim their bushes on the corner, fail to shovel sidewalks, fail to repair broken sidewalks etc.
“IF” the building department opened their eyes when riding around it would not be necessary for this ridiculous proposal.

  2. I wonder what big wig got hit with a summons and wanted to know who ratted him out?

  3. Did someone drop a dime about one of Paul’s properties being non-compliant?

  4. Someone was pissed that they got nailed!

  5. The most asinine decision of 2025.

  6. Was this approved by the Village Council?

  7. Ridiculous.

  8. This is going to trigger fist fights in many neighborhoods.

Try calling 911 and they try to get the info out of you………………..but it doesn’t matter, the calling number shows up anyway.

  10. Lead by example and provide the name(s) of who made this request and their phone numbers.

  11. This is insane. You are going to turn neighbor against neighbor which this town loves to do for some reason. Prepare for the OPRAH requests

  12. Are we expecting reporting coming from the likes of Claude Balls, 131 N. Maple (201)555-1212
