Ridgewood NJ, its done the Village of Ridgewood has cut down the iconic Graydon Sycamore AKA ,the “Money Tree” . Many long time residents think this spells doom for the Village .

Can it be making way for a concrete pool or more housing? It only takes three votes. Always wondered why the Village never classified Graydon as historical.
The village will now thrive. The tree was weighing down our quaint village. Everything is in our favor now. No more fear of lawsuits if the tree fell, new garage, high density housing, new VC come June, new baseball field at Schedler. The future is bright.

Reportedly, a candidate for Village Council, accompanied by another family member, disregarded the caution tape that was deployed around Graydon, and entered the restricted work zone shortly after the tree was felled this morning. The individual became belligerent with a Village employee and refused the leave the restricted work area when asked to do so. The employee telephoned for police assistance in removing the individual; two (2) uniformed patrol officers and a uniformed patrol supervisor were dispatched to assist. The trespasser left the property prior to the police officers’ arrival. It is unknown whether charges will be pressed.
And the campaign signs aren’t even up yet. This is going to be one hell of an election season.
This town is crazy. Seriously, crazy.

Police were called on a Council candidate and family member? Way to kick off campaigning. Imagine that person sitting on the dais with explosive Voight! No restraint and it hasn’t even started.

Who was the village council candidate that acted so moronically? What were they attempting to do, sit in the tree to prevent it from being cut down? If he/she were willing to lay down in front of one of the developer’s bulldozers starting to build the slums on Ridgewood Avenue, they would have my vote. But if they are just another nutter, well, we have enough of them.
Current council has been working on graydon havign historic designation.
