Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood has entered the final round of leaf pickups starting on Monday, December 2nd. Thanks to our crews working 10 hours a day, six days a week, approximately 80 percent of the leaves in the Village have been collected.

Here’s what the multi-step leaf collection process looks like:

• Leaves are pushed into large piles by one crew.
• Street sweepers and “pusher trucks” push remaining debris onto the piles.
• Leaves are picked up and loaded onto trucks by another crew.
• Curb lines are blown off.
• Street sweepers do a final cleaning of the street.
• Leaf vacuums are out every day to clean streets with smaller amounts of leaves.

Because this process involves multiple steps and multiple crews, leaf piles may remain on the street for several hours before they are collected by the next crew.

Reminder: Only leaves and yard waste (such as grass clippings) belong in leaf piles. Please do not place concrete, rocks, trash, debris and other inappropriate materials in leaf piles.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Streets Department finishes up this work.
