Ridgewood NJ, All residents have received a yellow postcard with the leaf collection program requirements.  A copy of the postcard is attached to this E-Notice, so that you can print it out if you wish to do so.  The leaf collection areas are based on yardwaste areas (A-D), with certain exceptions listed for Area D, during leaf season only.  If you don’t know your yardwaste area, please go to the Village website, www.ridgewoodnj.net, and click on the “My Services Lookup” and put in your address.  You will then see the Leaf Collection area for your address.

If you currently have leaves in the street, please bring them back onto your property, because the first leaf placement dates begin on October 21st for Areas A and B only.  If leaves are on the street prior to October 21st, a summons may be issued.

Once you have identified your yardwaste area, please be certain to place your leaves in the street, along the curbline, only during the leaf placement dates listed for your area on the postcard.  You may not place leaves into the street after the last leaf placement date for your area, until the next round of leaf placement dates for your area.  If you place leaves along the curbline either before or after your leaf placement dates or after the street is complete, you may be issued a summons.  No warnings will be given.  If you employ a landscaper, please communicate your leaf placement dates to them.

No brush will be collected during leaf season.  In addition, do not place trash, stones, branches, twigs or other yardwaste into the leaf piles.

You may place your leaves in biodegradable paper bags (there are bags available for residents at the Recycling Center on a first come, first served basis), between the curb and sidewalk (not in the street), at any time and they will be picked up by our collection crews, as time permits.  Do not use plastic bags for leaf collection.  You may also bring your leaves to the Recycling Center during their regular hours.

Updates for leaf collection will be placed on the Village website.  If you have any questions regarding the leaf collection program, call the Street Division at 201-670-5585.

  1. As a long time resident up in section B. Why are we paying close to $100,000 to a contractor to pick up leaves in my section. How come the village is not doing it anymore. They did it years ago. Is there an issue going on are we lacking employees equipment etc. Can anyone explain that to us. Because my taxes never went down.

  2. Why don’t we give all the leaves to the Democrats so They all can wipe their ass with it.

  3. Let’s go trump.

  4. @Curious – Its too many leaves for the town to handle effectively within the time frames, even without weather events. One section with large amounts of leaves (area B) is bid out and the town handles the other 3. The contractor is running multiple crews. Its more cost effective to pay them for the leaf season than hire, manage, and pay multiple DPW workers, and purchase and maintain additional pieces of very expensive equipment.
