Ridgewood NJ, All residents have received a yellow postcard with the leaf collection program requirements. The leaf collection areas are based on yardwaste areas (A-D), with certain exceptions listed for Area D, during leaf season only. If you don’t know your yardwaste area, please go to the Village website, www.ridgewoodnj.net, and click on the “My Services Lookup” and put in your address. You will then see the Leaf Collection area for your address.
Once you have identified your yardwaste area, please be certain to place your leaves in the street, along the curbline, only during the leaf placement dates listed for your area on the postcard. You may not place leaves into the street after the last leaf placement date for your area, until the next round of leaf placement dates for your area. If you place leaves along the curbline either before or after your leaf placement dates or after the street is complete, you may be issued a summons. No warnings will be given. If you employ a landscaper, please communicate your leaf placement dates to them.
No brush will be collected during leaf season. In addition, do not place trash, stones, branches, twigs or other yardwaste into the leaf piles.
You may place your leaves in biodegradable paper bags, between the curb and sidewalk (not in the street), at any time and they will be picked up by our collection crews, as time permits. Do not use plastic bags for leaf collection. You may also bring your leaves to the Recycling Center during their regular hours.
At this time, our leaf collection is running on time, with second rounds of leaf pickup being started. Updates for leaf collection are being placed on the Village website. If you have any questions regarding the leaf collection program, call the Street Division at 201-670-5585.
After all these years why are we still having so much confusion on this subject. People it’s only leaves. At least clean up your lawn and put it on the curb line. When the crew comes in our section we will rake in to the road.
Easy right.
I just passed a house on No Van Dien with a pile so big that it nearly blocks the northbound lane.
Stoopid.
I was Traveling through Wyckoff today and I seen the crews working picking up leaves. I haven’t seen village crew ‘s work on a Saturday many years. Why is that.
Remember the old manager came up with the slogan no leaf left behind . Yeah. Hello . Come up to my home on Andover rd , The contractor at the village hired to do my section is operating extremely slow. and snow is coming very soon.
The”problem” will go away if you leave them alone!
Ware do all the leaves go when they are picked up in the street.
End of lakeview drive in town, use google maps and satellite view
Never received a “yellow card in the mail. When I called and spoke to the code enforcer explained to her I was handicapped, she in return told me “get down to city hall and pick one up”. This was said in a rather nasty and rude way. Why are we paying such people who are to help us, we pay them, and get type of attitude! What has gone wrong with our service?
I’m glad they are behind schedule. That way I can blow leaves off my lawn without having to put them on the grass past the pickup date and not get a summons.
My leaves have been out two weeks since the period where I can place them on the street. I’ve had to rake and re-rake twice already. Same thing every year.
Cannot even drive on Phelps any more, between the giant leaf piles and construction/landscaping vehicles. I can see some vehicles parked on top of some of the lead piles.
What the hell is going on? How is a routine service that is the same every year so miserably implemented?
We residents are given warnings and spot fines for missing the schedule by a day. Where are the fines for the powers that be for utterly and completing missing their own schedule?
Not sure why everybody is still asking about why this is happening. Because we have incompetent and indifferent people ate the helm. Most residents don’t even know the name of the village manager. This position gets paid a lot of $ for not doing anything. Get used to this type of situation. As we “progress” into a city your voice will get lower and lower and it will disappear into the huge crowds. That’s what “our leaders” are so busy with.
we had frozen Christmas Trees within the frozen piles until spring of that year 5 to 7 years back
As a long time resident in the village of Ridgewood most of us are not happy with this arrangement the town came up with leaf pick up. Obviously it’s not really working that well most of us are confused and just not that ecstatic over the lease schedule again. For the past five years or so in the change of the system it’s not for the better it’s for the worse . The old way worked out better sorry, I guess it’s time back to the planning board!!!!!
Most residents cant comprehend the simple leaf pickup schedule and expect their leaves picked up the second they put them out. For example, Phelps drive was cleared already once as I live right around the corner, and should be cleared again before Thanksgiving per the notice. Anonymous up there is just being incorrigible. Calm down keyboard warriors, and re-read the placement and pickup dates three more times, maybe you will understand it then.
There is no leaf PICK UP schedule . . . it’s a leaf PUT OUT schedule. Duh.
Dont know who you are, Old Lady, but I have lived here a long time too and I am happy with the leaf pickup. You don’t speak for all of us and shouldn’t say that “most of us are not happy.
You know it’s amazing my fellow residents is that we put our leaves at the curb or Christmas trees at the curb or recycling at the curb our cleanup at the curb I’ll brush at the curb our yard waste at the curb but yet people would cry if we have to put our garbage cans at the curb. I don’t understand this do you. Is it laziness is it image I don’t know what it is. I know Many richer towns around us that they had to put the garbage cans at the curb. So which is it. Me personally I don’t want anyone in my backyard nothing against them or anyone personal I don’t want anyone on my property if I don’t know you. Because we are living in a crazy world.
The main problem is all new supervision lack of experience. It’s going to take many years for them to learn what the old-timers forgot. It’s a real shame my taxes are not at work.
I think by January 1 wall sanitation should be brought to the curb for the whole winter until April 1. So no sanitation workers can get hurt walking onto peoples private property. If the sanitation worker falls on our property which is private they can sue us if they get hurt and the story don’t let anybody bullshit you.
For now on the other reader was right I will stop at my sanitation cans at the end of the driveway so no one slips on my property. Sanitation work I can slip on with leaves what ice snow etc. and then show me so they will be at the curb thank you
I hope it doesn’t snow real soon. Then what.
The email above says they are running on time yet I have not had a SINGLE leaf pick up all season. Where is Mayor Ribbon Cutter? We should replace our amateur council with a new system of government that votes for Mayor who then hires competent staff. It would be money well spent.
You know it’s real funny about Christmas trees you people make me laugh you go out and use your own personal car buy a Christmas tree and bring it home utilize it through the whole day and then you throw it in the leaf pile and yes they can get covered in snowing and freeze in the leaf pile. Why don’t you bring it down to the recycling yard and put it into your yard waste truck. And then you will not have the problem of your Christmas tree freezing in the leaf pile think about it. How about cut it up and burn it in your fire pit. I wonder how many trees the parks department picks up throughout the village in the winter.
Snow is coming.
Anon proposing we vote for Mayor is correct. And also that our ribbon cutter mayor is totally incompetent including the rest of VC. I wish we could hire a good veteran for $200-$300K/yr who would assemble his own team and bring this town back on track. It would be money well spent. After zucchini mayor is gone, another zucchini will follow.
Same shit stop Crying
Hey there’s no snow in sight so weatherwise we are very lucky. As a landscaper I’m very happy.
We only see two comments.
???? Is the other one in visible
Some of my neighbors will be crying because there’s leaves in front of their house. And their Relatives may have too park on top of the lease oh well. No special pick ups for you. I told some of my neighbors day to relax its leaves. They eventually will be picked up. I’m leaving today I’ll be back after New Year’s oh yes enjoy.
The town is a mess. They should be ashamed of themselves today is Thanksgiving and we can’t even park in front of our house. Many other Towns are out weekends picking up leaves. But Ridgewood no one‘s working on weekends to pick up leaves. And this weekend we have a chance of a snow storm go figure. Great planning management. Talk about lack of experience. What Is going on this thing and happened in the past a few years ago.
I hope we get 6 inches of snow and it stays real cold freeze right on top of the Leaf piles. All my neighbors will be crying. I took all my leaves down to the recycling yard today my whole property is nice and clean so I don’t care how much snow we get. Ha ha,And now I’m going to get some fresh gas for my snowblower and the coffee.
Snow and ice and cold coming on Sunday into Monday. They are talking maybe 3 inches to 5 inches of snow possible oh yes. Move the rakes to the side, and break out the snow shovels. Oh yes.
Snow is coming.
Snow and leaves mix so nice together. It’s going to get messy. What slop we will have.
I watched Councilman Voight blow his leaves into the street yesterday. In area B we are not supposed to put them out until the 4th of. Dec. That takes real nerve! If I did it I would probably get a summons.
