Ridgewood NJ, Mayor Paul Vagianos is running for reelection.  You will read in his election materials that he loves public comment.  Yeah, well, not so much.

  • He cut the amount of minutes that residents are permitted to speak at meetings.
  • He limits the number of speakers who can go the the microphone to speak – even when there is the occasional hot topic and a lot of people have showed up.  Tough luck for the folks who arrive after the 9th person is on line.  He does not care.
  • He decided to end meetings at 11 (even after he and the others have droned on and on) – so if anyone is waiting to speak they are outta luck.
  • He told the citizens last week that they are not allowed to make a face, not allowed to smile, not allowed to laugh.  That’s right, folks, our public-loving elected official does not want to hear from you or see your facial expressions.

  1. He’s the most prolific liar in Ridgewood.

  2. These public meetings are an antiquated formality, anyway. If the caliber of individual that participated in them was more impressive, perhaps the spectacle would be a little more tolerable and a little extra play-acting time would be permitted. As it stands now, however, no one cares what you have to say, it doesn’t matter anyway, and you’re ugly, inarticulate, and stinking up the room. So let’s just get this over with.

    1. Actually if the village meetings were run effectively without the posers constantly looking for accolades from the residents who pay taxes in the village that pay for essential services and might like to know if there is a level of financila responsiility instead of some of the ways that money is being spent (ie., pet projects, things that directly effect the CBD-think Mayors biz ventures) then maybe they could do without the meetings. I don’t know one place that operatates like Ridgewood. It is a puppet show.

    3. I agree with no one cares. Meaning the council doesn’t give a rats ass about the oeople

    4. Are you talking about the residents or the council?

Because if you’re dissing Pam and her hats or Sleepy Evan, you’re way out of line.

      1. You are leaving out the other dolts, they should get top billing for their antics.

    5. Being critical of a person’s outward appearance beautifully sums up where you fall on the “caliber” spectrum and I am willing to be that you are real special. Your comments are a clear indication of your lack of emotional intelligence, which I am guess is very low.

      1. There is no such thing as emotional intelligence. Listen, we can coin psychobabble neologisms all day. Here’s one: moralistic psychopathy. What’s moralistic psychopathy? Buy my book to learn more!

What you’re trying to say is that someone hurt your feelings. You know it. And I know it. And it’s OK. We can talk about it at the next vegan carnivore meeting.

      1. Ask Paul. He knows. And so do some of us.

        1. well there has got to be a story here if people are talking about it. Now I am intrigued.

        2. I am guessing she is a special friend.

  6. Are people really going to vote for this joker Vagianos again. Let’s hope not. He has no humility whatsoever and puts his interests and business ventures/development opportunities first. That doesn’t seem ethical. We all want to see the downtown thrive, but he is the worst. I don’t attend the meetings, but we just don’t like him and he doesn’t seem like what a mayor should be.

  7. This is truly a sign of insanity, narcissistic behavior and just wrong. I am not shocked but I actually am that this was okay’ed by everyone.

  8. Without Vagianos, his puppets, Perron, Winograd and Weitz won’t know what to do with themselves and may actually learn what proper municipal governance is really all about. Lord knows, they have spent most of their time working on and spending finances on a failed field project that is now filled to the brim with contaminated soil.

    1. maybe they can take a kindness class

      1. unfortunately a kindness or anti bullying class is not going to help Vagianos, Wingrad, Weitz, Mortimer or anyone else who prioritize their friendships and alliance with the sports groups in Ridgewood. Now enter Mr. Kazmark, who is proud to strut around town but can’t seem to focus on his job. problem. Not something a class or beer truck will fix. This village has real problems that require real solutions and unfortunately are not equipped with the kind of good governance that will support real progress.

  9. If PFAS PauLIE gets voted out, it might allow for Kazmaark to become a more focused Village Manager. Maybe they can fix what is really broken, the long standing issues and get back to the business of keeping Ridgewood operational, safe and humming with a good vibe. The morale at village hall is pretty low and I don’t think a beer truck ans some food will fix that. The website sucks, now a new app is being developed on top of that. The neverending photo ops Keith everywhere, contaminated soil in multiple parks, engineering department that has done lord knows what and gets away with it and on and on. so much the public doesn’t know for all of the amount of garbage these talking heads spew out.

    10
  10. But Mr. Halaby keeps saying that “Ridgewood Works”. I guess we should ask him to be more specific because I think he is the only one who understands.

    1. he’s a joke. you know like the class clown or lunatic

      1. Roar-ICK

  11. I am surprised at the things that our Mayor has come up with when it comes to decorum when the council, which is as clear as day on youtube, is passing looks (check out Winograd looking at Matt Rogers most of the meeting) or Keith doing something on a computer (clicking away loudly) and bullying in plain sight where the Mayor does nothing to stop it and actually fuels the fire with the sports buddies he has. Of all the unmitigated gaul. It takes a lot of nerve to try to fool the public into believing that you are capable of running a municipality when you have failed at almost everything and almost furloughed staff last year with an 11th hour reprieve.

I hope people rememer this when they go to vote.

  12. Hit him in the wallet. Boycott his restaurant.

    1. Have never gone there, will never go there. I have never heard any rraves and why would you when there are so many much better places to eat.

  13. he just needs to GO…bye bye

  14. Getting rid of Vagianos is essential. Bullet vote Kwak. She is the best candidate

    1. Pathetic little Jeff Voight doing his best to demean Kwak. He just went after the same old garbage…..”Ms. Kwak, why aren’t your kids in Ridgewood schools is you love our schools so much? Aren’t you just on the BoE to bring us down? After all, your kids don’t attend school here”.

Hey Jeff! As you will know, that question has been asked and answered a thousand times. Several of our BoE members have no children in the school system.. I believe one has a child who goes to Bergen academies. Should he have denied her the opportunity for Superior education just because he’s on the board of ed? Should Kwak have denied her children opportunities because Ridgewood couldn’t accommodate a more flexible schedule?

Stop being. d-bag Jeff or we will start posting youe d-bag comment clip from when you were sitting on the council dias. Go slither under that rock you just came out from under,.

      1. Isn’t it just great when people like Jeff Voight and Robert Sonenfeld come out of the woodwork criticising others! Are we kidding here? Bad reputations abound and yet they can point out the flaws of other people like their halos are glowing. These bozos were both steeped in controversary, so I just don’t understand why they don’t work on being better people and maybe take some time for self reflection, self development. They are not getting any younger, that is for sure.

  15. Anonymous posters here and on the town facebook groups about Vagianos have just made me want to vote for him MORE. Your campaign just comes across as weird and like y’all have some personal vendetta against him and too much time on your hands.

    1. You must have been rolling around in the turf again. You have to shake off those little crushed tire crumbs, not eat them

    2. He puts his business interests and pet projects ahead of real issues which is upsetting to the tax payers who live here. Everything is a contradiction and the same rules that apply to others dont apply to him and Perople are justifiably upset. sorry if you dont genuinely get that. A year in and he’s a total failure who still has people hoodwinked into believing anything he does is honorable and Ridgewood has lost our dignity and we are a laughing stock of a town because of a short sighted little man.

    3. I share your sentiment, although I’m voting for the V-man because that’s what my boss Ba’alzebub wants.

  16. Vagianos plain and simply is a terrible mayor. He has pretty much failed at everything he has done. Tell me one thing this guy has accomplished that has any merit. He brought in someone to take charge of the village who is running from his own past because of politics. Is this a stepping stone or a place to call home. Time will tell. Be careful what you wish for because it will cost Ridgewood a pretty penny voting for someone like Paul who makes up the rules as he goes along and is aligned with people who have a vested interest in everything they do.
