VILLAGE SANITATION COLLECTION IN SNOW OR ICY WEATHER

As a reminder on days when snow or ice is forecast, residents will be required to bring their garbage cans to the curb for collection. VOR staff will only pick up garbage and recycling at the curb in snow or ice conditions. Ice condition is when ice is present in driveways and sidewalks. Due to numerous slip and falls today by Sanitation staff (some requiring Hospital visits) if your driveway was not clear your garbage has not been collected and should be placed on the curb for Friday.

  1. So if the weatherman ‘forecasts’ snow and it doesn’t happen, cans go to the curb?
This place is starting a lot to look like South Waldwick.

  2. Actually, 1 sanitation man in town broke his ribs yesterday morning in a fall.
    Sidewalk was icy.

Additionally, if a person does not log onto the town’s web site, or read the Patch, how do they know about this change in garbage pick-up?

  3. Can we start a new thread to post the addresses of the inconsiderate residents who fail to remove the snow and ice from their sidewalks, as required by ordinance?

  4. A little common sense. You remember what that is.

  5. #3 start with a certain house on Linwood where the sidewalks are usually iced and snow covered.

  6. How about the central business district not cleaning there sidewalks?

  7. lets not forget north Monroe a few blocks south of glen. same two inconsiderate property owners

  8. #5, if you are referring to Da Maya, it would be fun for him to receive a summons.

  9. What about the southeast corner of franklin and broad? is that NJTs remit or the town’s? It’s not getting done, regardless. It is embarrassing that we can’t keep the sidewalk clear right next to our fancy new train station.

  10. #6 the CBD people are Paul’s friends. No worries on the cleanup.

  11. The Mayor’s friend doesn’t have to much to shovel because of that big planter he has in front

  12. Sure sounds like the South Waldwick folks would get along with the West Paramus denizens.

Let’s have a block party after the snow melts and the leaves wash down the sewers.

  13. Higher taxes. Lousier services. Something’s got to give.

  14. The tax problem is with the school system look at the cost over 90 million dollars, don’t blame the workers, ( the few that are left )

  15. I wouldn’t be surprised if the worker fell on one of the ice and snow-packed streets. Appears Ridgewood decided it didn’t need to plow any of the side streets. It’s a mess.

  16. #15 the rwd has had a problem with snow removal for 10 years, no one want’s to take responsibility for it, ie: no money in budget, not enough workers, someone forgot to buy salt, 1 year it was dec and no one hired an outside contractor to supplement what’s left of the street dept. The more things change the more they stay the same.

  17. Update:

The leaf team took care of my street today.

As far as I could see they didn’t have a guy in the street with a rake. This would’ve helped. Alot of leaves remain up on the little ribbon of grass that separates the sidewak from the curb.

So the question is what happens on Sunday when the snow is gone and my neighbors and I rake the leaves back into the street….?

I’ll answer my own question. Time to use bags since the plows seemed hesitant to run the bags over…at least on my street they didn’t….

  18. people the d p w is down to 6 workers. they had 28. what do you think is going to happen. the dept can not do the same amount of work with 6 workers . have the paid fire dept help.they have a full staff.
