Ridgewood NJ, a new Pew Research poll finds that only two in 10 Americans trust the government in Washington to do what is right “just about always” (2%) or “most of the time” (19%).
While there is a partisan divide, the lack of confidence crosses all barriers. While only 29% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say they trust the government, the number among Republicans and Republican-leaners is a shocking 9%.
While a majority of Americans believe the federal government should play a role in solving problems, they despair about the job it’s doing. Just 6% say the phrase “careful with taxpayer money” describes the federal government extremely or very well; another 21% it this describes the government somewhat well.
