Ramsey NJ, Ramsey Seniors living in an apartment complex next to the construction of the new Wawa store and service station are not happy.
The new Wawa location is at 966 Route 17 North, on the site of the Cury’s Sporting Goods store.
The residents of Bear’s Cove senior condominium complex oppose the noise and smell they say the 24/7 construction causes, as well as the single entrance and exit access to the site located just before the entry road to their complex.
In hearings back in 2013, Wawa called for a 5,000-square-foot store, a canopied eight-pump, and 16-nozzle gas station.
The borough of Ramsey initially rejected the plan, but a year later a judge overruled the planners and forced the development on the borough.
NJ judges have too much power regarding zoning.
Yummy time
Wawa is a great store. These people who move next to a commercially zoned property have no right to stop a commercial business that meets zoning requirements .
So true!
I went to the Wawa in Mahwah years ago…
If you live on Route 17….
Was there construction noise during the construction of the Bear’s Cove senior condominium complex?
Since the story includes “senior” citizens. They should be described as “wealthy senior citizens” who chose to spend their retirement years living next to a state highway where there already was several automobile dealerships and a mini-mall including a Smash Burger within full view (and smell).
