Trenton NJ, the race for New Jersey governor is heating up with sharp criticism from Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli aimed at his opponent, Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill. Ciattarelli has accused Sherrill of being “missing in action,” citing her absence from public events, missed congressional votes, and a refusal to participate in debates.

In a statement, Ciattarelli blasted Sherrill for “skipping more than half her congressional votes” and “cancelling public appearances.” He also pointed out that Sherrill has repeatedly dodged the press while continuing to collect her taxpayer-funded salary.

The Vote-Skipping Controversy

A key part of Ciattarelli’s criticism is Sherrill’s voting record in Congress. According to data from Congress.gov, Mikie Sherrill missed every House vote between July 21 and September 17. The Ciattarelli campaign suggests that it was only after the congresswoman was called out publicly that she returned to Washington to cast her votes.

This alleged pattern of behavior has fueled the narrative that Sherrill is not fully committed to her duties, a charge that Ciattarelli believes makes her unfit to lead the state. “Does that sound like someone ready to lead our state?” he asked in his statement, directly challenging her commitment to the New Jersey governorship.

As the two candidates head toward a critical debate, the pressure is on Sherrill to address these accusations and prove to voters that she is ready to take on the top job in the Garden State.
