Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry
It’s been five years since Pope Francis kicked off one of the most striking papacies in memory. Within the Catholic world, sadly divided into warring political camps, he is seen as a hero by progressive Catholics and a scourge of conservatives.
Why do so many conservatives dislike Pope Francis? In many cases, because he makes noises they dislike.
Francis has had harsh words against globalized capitalism, has written a major encyclical on the environment, and has been a major supporter of migrants in the crisis seizing Europe. In all these controversies, he actually hasn’t strayed too far from Catholic orthodoxy. But the most charitable version of the conservative critique, which is not unjustified, is that his tone and emphasis make him sound like a straightforward progressive, and risks identifying the Magisterium of the Church with the progressive left.

The church has moved forward. There is nothing about Pope Francis that has changed the lives of conservatives. They still go to church, no one is forcing them to be compassionate can stay the way that they are.
not to much of bigot are we ?
Pope Francis is a true Christian. Most of us are not including me. Jesus told us to give the shirt off your back and to care for the least of us , not to “judge lest ye be judged.” It is Sunday, I am not at church but this man is in my prayers and he also believes in climate change and our part in it.
I am more of an eye for and eye guy
A lot of SNOWFLAKES post on this lately James.!
I think the Pope is more of a “Thou Shalt not Kill” guy
Dear James, Still read The Blog everyday,! You make us think about our positions which is a good thing!
Dhow does the first comment make me a bigot?
No one is forcing change on conservative Catholics, whoever they are.
The Pope is infallible.
The pro-pope posters are trolls – they are not even Catholics, let alone believe in God.
