Democrats and Republicans Pour Millions Into Tight New Jersey Governor’s Race

Trenton NJ, the race for New Jersey governor is turning into a high-stakes battle, with both the Democratic and Republican parties investing millions to secure a victory. The surge in spending comes as new polls show a surprisingly tight contest in a state typically seen as reliably blue.
On Tuesday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced an additional $1.5 million investment, bringing its total spending in New Jersey to a record-breaking $3 million for an off-year election. The funds are earmarked for voter outreach and specific efforts to re-engage key demographics, including Black, Latino, and Asian voters.
Meanwhile, groups tied to the Democratic Governors Association have committed a massive $20 million to support their nominee, Rep. Mikie Sherrill. On the Republican side, the Republican Governors Association has spent $1.5 million on ads for their nominee, Jack Ciattarelli, with another $1.1 million ad buy recently announced.
A Closer Look at the Polls
Recent polling paints a mixed but compelling picture of the race.
- A National Research Inc. poll conducted last week found Ciattarelli trailing Sherrill by just two points, 47% to 45%, which is within the survey’s margin of error. This poll also showed Ciattarelli with a lead among unaffiliated and working/middle-class voters.
- A Quinnipiac University poll released a day later showed a more comfortable lead for Sherrill, with her ahead by eight points, 49% to 41%.
Voters expressed different priorities for each candidate. Ciattarelli was trusted more to handle property taxes (46% to 40%), while Sherrill was favored to deal with rising electricity costs (42% to 40%).
Despite the close race in some polls, most nonpartisan political analysts still favor Sherrill to win. Decision Desk HQ gives her a 7-point lead in aggregate polls, and the Cook Political Report has the race listed as “Leans Democrat.” With registered Democrats outnumbering Republicans by an estimated 860,000 voters, the GOP faces an uphill battle, but the massive financial investment from both sides signals this race is far from over.

If she wins… we lose
Lets make sure the Democrats don’t steal another election with the ‘discovery’ of uncounted mail-in ballots in the s-hole cities
You mean like they do in Glen Rock?
Micki talks with her hands like Kamala does.
She called Charlie Kirk a racist and anti American. Pls don’t vote her in as NJ governor.
She has the right to free speech. And many agree with her.
Sure they do
only low class losers talk that way ,lying like a true coward
Kazmark, Ridgewoor’s village manager is tied to Sherill, so if she wins, it is a fair assumption that she will take him with her. I don’t like either of them, JC because he is closely aligned with Trumpy bear’s values which I think are reprehensible but I don’t know what Sherill actually stands for.
We call that addition by subtraction.
Far worse than Murphy. She wants to prioritize woke policies in public education. Claims she will immediately reduce utility costs yet she and her party are the reason NJ costs are up 30+%. Why hasn’t she fought for a reduction the past 3.5 yrs.
time for people to make adult decisions and stop voting the D
Hilarious
Raging liberals will vote D on Nov 4th and immediately bitch about their policies on Jan 1
She’s been hiding. Thats the Biden-in-the-basement strategy
I said this back in the 2000s that I’d never vote for a democrat….my mind has never changed
I find it surprising how far ahead Sherrill is. Equally as surprising as the NYC mayoral race. There must be a better way to get the message across that promises of taxing the rich to give you “free” stuff is a lie. The problem is rooted in the fact that many people see extraordinary wealth and have a visceral reaction to it in a negative way. Even if they know the lies of taxing it away won’t actually work.
she is not that far ahead , she does not even cover the margin of error in a extremely liberal left wing poll . The Dems are pumping loads of money into what should be a layup state
I hope you are right, but afraid you are just being optimistic
