Woodcliff Lake NJ  , Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of DARREN PAVESI (DOB: 03/25/1963; married; employed as a construction foreman) of 60 Prospect Avenue, Woodcliff Lake, NJ on charges of Theft By Deception and Theft By Failure To Make Lawful Disposition Of Property Received. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Based upon information received by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit, an investigation revealed that beginning in April 2014, DARREN PAVESI had abused his position as a court appointed guardian of an incapacitated person and misused the funds of his ward. PAVESI used his ward’s financial assets for his own benefit, misappropriating funds to make unauthorized payments to himself and to pay his own personal expenses. PAVESI received monies that, by court order, were due to be paid to his ward and a second victim but which he misappropriated to himself, resulting in a total theft in excess of $50,000.

Darren PAVESI was arrested on September 5, 2018 in Paramus and charged with one count of Theft By Deception, with the amount involved being greater than $500 but less than $75,000, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4, a 3rd degree crime, and one count of Theft By Failure To Make Lawful Disposition Of Property Received, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-9, a 3rd degree crime. PAVESI is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
