Rutherford NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHRISTOPHER OJEDA (DOB: 03/07/1988; single; unemployed) of 120 W. Sixth Street, Howell, NJ and DAJAN MINDINGALL (DOB 09/03/1992; single; unemployed) of 180A Eatoncrest Drive, Eatontown, NJ. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
In January 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad initiated an investigation into armed robberies that occurred at the Extended Stay Hotel in Rutherford, NJ and the Queen Spa in Edgewater, NJ. The investigation identified CHRISTOPHER OJEDA and DAJAN MINDINGALL as the primary suspects in the armed robberies. On Thursday, February 6, 2020, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office executed search warrants at the residences of CHRISTOPHER OJEDA in Howell, NJ and DAJAN MINDINGALL in Eatontown, NJ, as well as on a vehicle. On February 6, 2020, CHRISTOPHER OJEDA was arrested in Howell, NJ and DAJAN MINDINGALL was arrested in Asbury Park, NJ. Each was charged with one count of Robbery, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1), a 1st degree crime; one count of Kidnapping, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1), a 1st degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Handgun Without A Permit, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2), a 2nd degree crime; one count of Possession Of A Firearm For An Unlawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(3)/2C:5-1, a 2nd degree crime.
CHRISTOPHER OJEDA and DAJAN MINDINGALL are suspects in similar robberies that have occurred throughout the state and the investigation into those robberies is continuing.
CHRISTOPHER OJEDA and DAJAN MINDINGALL were remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending their first appearances in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Edgewater, Rutherford, Eatontown, Asbury Park, Howell, Woodbridge, South Plainfield, North Brunswick, Green Brook, West Long Branch, Cherry Hill, Linden and Secaucus Police Departments, and the Monmouth County, Hudson County, and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Offices for their assistance in this investigation.
