Hasbrouck Heights NJ, Emergency crews from across Bergen County responded to a major commercial building fire on Monday morning, August 3, at the IHOP restaurant located at 111 Route 17 South in Hasbrouck Heights.

The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department arrived at the scene and raised the incident to a 3rd-alarm fire as heavy smoke and flames broke out at the popular roadside location.

Multi-Agency Response Brings Blaze Under Control

First responders moved quickly to contain the fire and prevent further spread to surrounding commercial properties. Mutual aid units from neighboring municipalities provided crucial support on scene and covered local service calls during the response:

  • Wood-Ridge Fire Department: Responded at 6:58 AM with Chief Cribben, Chief Maloney, Truck 904, and Engine 901, assisting on scene before clearing at 9:50 AM.

  • Hackensack Fire Department: Joined the multi-agency firefighting effort alongside local crews.

  • Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department: Managed command operations, successfully placing the fire under control shortly before 9:00 AM.

Local officials expressed gratitude to all mutual aid partners for their rapid response and assistance in securing the area.

Traffic Impact: Route 17 South Closures

Due to emergency vehicles on scene and ongoing investigation work, Route 17 South remains closed at Franklin Avenue. Drivers traveling through Hasbrouck Heights are advised to expect significant delays and seek alternate routes while crews clear debris and inspect the structure.

No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities.
