Ridgewood NJ, the West Village of Ridgewood is once again gearing up to transform into a festive fall celebration for the community’s 5th Annual West Village Oktoberfest. People of all ages are invited to enjoy hayrides to the Heights, shop local vendors, listen to live music and indulge in seasonal food and drinks.
Sponsored by the Ridgewood YMCA, the Oktoberfest will take place in Wilsey Square from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 13. Attendees will be treated to a wide array of family friendly activities, including pumpkin painting, arts and crafts, live music, and a vibrant vendor market.
As in past years, the market will be curated by local author and Master Beekeeper Frank Mortimer and will showcase a variety of unique products from local artisans. Mortimer, also known as “Frank the Beeman,” will bee offering his locally sourced honey and signing copies of his acclaimed book, Bee People and the Bugs They Love, which received high praise from the New York Times.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate five years of bringing the community together through this event,” said Kayleigh Smith, co-chair and representative from MacMurphy’s Irish Pub. “Oktoberfest is all about community, fun, and joy; we’re especially proud to see it grow year after year. Families can feel safe bringing their kids and even their dogs to enjoy the open-air festivities filled with handcrafted goods, great food, and endless activities.”
Ridgewood YMCA CEO Ramon Hache encourages everyone to participate in this family friendly event and to help those in need by donating fresh produce to local food pantries. A collection table will be set up at the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Farmers Market in the adjacent Garber Square parking lot.
