Ridgewood NJ, according to Rasmussen Reports a majority of voters are concerned about the current surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, and oppose plans reportedly being considered by Congress this week to offer amnesty to “undocumented immigrants”.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 73% of Likely U.S. Voters are concerned about the government’s ability to handle the growing number of migrants at the border while meeting COVID-19 protocols. That includes 48% who say they are Very Concerned.

Border crossings have surged since President Joe Biden was elected, and officials in Texas last week expressed alarm at the number of migrants who test positive for the coronavirus and are being released into the United States.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is expected to vote this week on two separate amnesty bills that would provide legal status to up to 5 million “undocumented” immigrants.

Fifty-one percent (51%) of Likely Voters oppose such an amnesty plan, including 35% who Strongly Oppose amnesty. Forty-five percent (45%) say they support amnesty for undocumented immigrants, including 22% who Strongly Support it.

  1. President Trump was right. We cannot afford to have all these people just enter the United States. They are bringing drugs, disease, we don’t even have jobs for them. I say feed them give them water give them medicine send them back And then try to re-enter the legal way.

  3. Perhaps one of these migrants could run for a Village office or act at its manager. The results could not get worse. Time for a completely different perspective in my opinion.

  4. Frankly if not fresh off the boat migrants, who would do the work Americans don’t wanna do? I came here as a legal immigrant. Working in a white collar field, I see clear differentiation between jobs done by locals and immigrants. Locals work in sales and admin. Immigrants manage technical responsibilities. Not always, but more often than not. At least in NY area.

Same goes for blue collar jobs. Locals do union type jobs and run small businesses. Immigrants do grunt work.

And before anyone says anything about paying enough for grunt labour so that locals do it, please don’t. You’re the cause of this yourself. How many of you don’t price hunt for best value? And don’t forget that value in grunt business comes from only one place – across the border.

Honestly, I didn’t come to US to learn Spanish or adopt culture and traditions from G-d knows where. I came here because I admire Western culture and want to be a part of it. Yet preserving Western culture is something locals have lost interest in. Ridgewood residents included.
