Ridgewood NJ, using US census data Business Insider ranked the 50 most miserable cities in the US. The state with the most miserable cities was California, with 10 in the top 50.

New Jersey came in a strong second, with nine, and Florida had six. 5 out of the first 17 are New Jersey cities, including #4 Passiac and #5 Newark.

Business Insider identified the 50 most miserable cities in the US, using census data from 1,000 cities, taking into consideration population change (because if people are leaving it’s usually for a good reason), the percentage of people working, median household incomes, the percentage of people without healthcare, median commute times, and the number of people living in poverty. (See the data and how we weighted it here.)

  1. Paterson and Trenton better to live in than Union City and Passaic? Granted none are good choices.

  2. Once again the shit hole that is NJ has made another list.
6 more months and I’m finally out of Ridgewood and NJ for good. Good luck…you gonna need it.

  3. Don’t worry, Ridgewood will be on the list after the GINORMOUS GARAGE is built
