Regardless of Cronin’s permission, State law requires 2′ of space between curb and any object so that cars can open doors:
https://www.state.nj.us/transportation/publicat/pdf/PedComp/pedaccomodating.pdf
Where sidewalks are adjacent to a parking lane, an additional 0.6 meters (2 feet) of width is required to compensate for the opening of car doors.
Yes and it’s hard to park and open up the doors try it for your self they should be taken down
Since the Great Wall went up, I stopped going there. Many restauranteurs are happy to have my business.
Well if he can do it everyone else can put up a wall that is. He should be told to remove it immediately, if not the village will hire a contractor to remove it and traction him and of story. I just don’t understand why this is going on and on. The mayor and council need to stop this nonsense. Too much political bullshit,
I’d like to see one of the town giant front end loaders just bash that wall down. We could make it a town wide event.
how is Cronin authorized to give permission for that????
It looks like there is no parking there
Follow the gyros….
Does this interpretation of the law mean we have to get rid of all the parking meters, trees and lamp posts too? Is that why the trees in front of Groom got clear cut?
It has been years and the town is aware. They obivously do not want to do anything about it.
He can remove village trees because his friend Tim said so.
Get caught warering your lawn once and pay a fine. Erect an illegal wall and no one cares.
Mr. Big Head, take down that wall!
Ordinance may not apply. Based upon the photo, it looks like there’s no parking in front of the restaurant. Take down the wall and get some parking back??? The town monitors my trees, leaves, water and sidewalk, but “nothing to see here”??
It’s actually a drive up take out slot between the walls of the mini Parthenon ..LOL to any senior citizens who can’t get out of the passenger side.Hey it’s Ridgewood ,the special people run the club here…nothing will change here…
There used to be parking there but once the wall was up for awhile, they removed them because it was impossible to exit from a car if one parked there. It is not near a corner, nor a driveway, so parking should be allowed. Get rid of that wall!
Funny it’s almost impossible to get any building code approved in this town and that one building inspector is a real stickler. Where is he now ?
I stopped going there too once the wall went up.
Google Maps street view does show at least one spot in front of the wall at one point in time. Opra to see why space was removed?
“State law requires 2′ of space between curb and any object so that cars can open doors”
LAWS? We ain’t got to follow no laws. We don’t need to follow no laws. I DON’T HAVE TO FOLLOW ANY STINKIN’ LAWS!”
Is GTM painted an illegal color?
Isn’t that the same blue that Tito’s Burritos couldn’t use ????
#RulesDontApplyToMe
WOW! They did remove a parking spot in front of the wall. Google maps clearly shows two parking spaces in front of GTM in September 2016 but now, there is only one. I guess it was done to 1.) facilitate curbside pick-up at GTM 2.) not subject sidewalk dinners at GTM to cars parking near their tables and 3.) avoid passengers being unable to get out of the car due to GTM’s illegal wall when they parked in that legal spot. So the guy screaming the loudest about a lack of parking used his influence to have a parking space removed? You cannot make this stuff up.
Yes, the space is gone and the unsightly meter is gone. The meter used to interfer with the little fencing between the two restaurants.
NJ corruption at its finest.
But hey, I am totally cool with it because THEY FLY RAINBOW FLAGS.
Who is his competitor in Nov election? Can this information be shared with the competition? We are not Russia, so hopefully won’t be breaking any laws :).
