Ridgewood NJ, former village manager Roberta Sonnefeld is out endorsing Janice Willett and Alexandra Harwin for Village Council . Sonnefeld left in a cloud and being accused of attempting to carry forward the previous failed agenda of the prior administration .
Sonnefeld tenure was most notable for the amount of financial catastrophes brought to the village . The so called “breath of fresh air” manager signed off on the HealthBarn giveaway lease to a personal friend , she also signed off on huge parking fees charged by Park Mobil , she appeared to threaten and interfere with a legal petition process . Sonnefeld also claimed to have a $100,000 check from the RBSA to develop a 90 foot baseball field at Schedler ,which never materialized . Sonnefeld signed of on the ridiculous ADA ramp in Graydon which ran over budget and is too slippery to use and well as the traffic easing under the railroad trestle which effectively cut off the Westside of town from the Central Business district.
Not to mention that Paul Arohnson, the former mayor, and Roberta Sonenfeld, the former village manager, were found guilty of ethics violations ,when they used village funds to produce a video that promoted the building of a parking deck, which was the subject of a town-wide referendum in 2016.

Anne LaGrange Loving said on Facebook ,” Ms. Sonenfeld, as Village Manager, ignored Resolution 15-52 regarding Park Mobile which clearly stated that there would be NO ADDITIONAL FEES, and yet there was something like $140,000 in additional fees. And then candidate Willett went to the microphone at a council meeting a couple of months ago and hotly defended the fact that these additional fees were acceptable. The resolution clearly states that this is not the case. We do not need “financial integrity” such as Ms. Sonenfeld espouses and Ms. Willett defends.”
Saurabh Dani said on the Facebook page , It Takes a Ridgewood Village. she ” authorizing construction documents for garage BEFORE it was approved, and thus wasting 600,000 $ of our money.”
Anne LaGrange Loving also said on the same Facebook page , “a full-time position WITH BENEFITS for a new employee to manage part of the Village Manager’s responsibilities…..and then hiring a friend into that position. And Ms. Sonenfeld had the audacity to write about nepotism in a recent letter, when she hired her friend to do the job that she (Sonenfeld) was being paid to do. Remember when Deputy Mayor Sedon asked whether Sonenfeld’s salary would be reduced proportionally in order to compensate for the fact that someone else was going to be performing the human resources aspect of the Village Manager’s job?”
Does anyone really give a sh$t who this f%cking moron Sonenfeld endorses? She’s promoting her own agenda (presumably so she can put her name on a big project and be seen as someone who can “execute”… doesn’t hurt the little consulting business she has going). She cost Ridgewood millions of dollars, not to mention its standing among prestigious towns in the area. She’s not a CEO, she’s a failure…
we can’t let down our guard…the enemy is organized….we must get out the vote in March.
“supports” is wrong word. She is behind their run. Paul and Her are the ones making these candidates run for the election, so they can get their influence back.
Why can’t she just disappear From Ridgewood.
This is amazing, she Can’t go quietly.She would love to come that could be the manager. Or maybe a commissioner.
There is more to it than that, Mr. Gozinya. The reason it’s important to keep her name, face, and exploits out there is that the candidates she is endorsing (including holding a candidates’ coffee at her home, attended by the usual gang of thieves) are very likely to have pledged to restore her as village manager–the position from which she resigned. That alone would be a good enough reason not to vote for Janice W. or Alexandra H. There are plenty of others, but this one may be paramount. Remember the full-page ad (or ads) stating that the MAIN ISSUE in the last council election was to keep Sonenfeld as village manager? That was so partisan that I couldn’t believe they were admitting it. It was the main issue for Aronsohn & Co. because she did their bidding. It certainly was not the main issue for residents (unless it happened).

Does willet and harwin accept her endorsement. If atilla the hun endorsed the mayor, would we not vote for her. Do we even know what their positions are, what their platform is in tangible non face book high level terms. Just asking

Property taxes never went up under Roberta and the previous council, so why this Council raising them so aggressively after disbanding the FAC which had been giving free, non-binding advice on budgets and capital improvements to Council members, most of whom don’t understand financial matters? Know-it-all Mayor thought she knew better, and now we’re all suffering thanks to out of control spending by the Council.

6:27, the FAC was reorganized, not disbanded. In fact, they gave a report at tonight’s council meeting. In a previous Aronsohn-run council, zero property tax increase was for the benefit of his own record so that he could later point to other councils as wasteful. Tom Riche correctly objected, noting that a cushion of money was needed for unanticipated emergencies and other expenses.
Taxpayer 5:48 – yes they introduced her like a debutante at the Upper Ridgewood Country Club – the whole gang was there, Roberta, Paul, Albert, Gwenn and Jeff. The toxic 5 are all supporting Ms. Harwin. Just like they supported Janice Willett.
Just when you think: “finally we got rid of the worst manager ever” (Gabbert, and he was the worst) along comes one even worse (Roberta). Vote NO to the “Back to the Future Team” she supports.

10:29 Richie was wrong. History shows we didn’t need the reserves set as high as he wanted them to be set. He was being as partisan as anyone with his vote.

She ruined a neighborhood Park by allowing her friends business to go there. Made serious usage changes without consulting neighbors.
Healthbarn is a private for profit business owned by a NYC resident. Classmate of Roberta, friend to Nancy Bigos and Janet ( Roberta’s other friend)
Roberta had NO regard for tax payers…keep her out. Do not vote for anyone she supports. They will be as nasty and rude as she is and the 3 amigos.
If these candidates get in watch out your quiet neighborhood could host a nursery school in the Home next door, a camp all summer long and holidays even a massage parlor. Who knows. Laws get changed if Roberta and the 3 amigos have a buddy that needs a place to run a business and maybe they will disguise it as a partnership with Ridgewood ( yet Ridgewood does not get ANY of the profits) all Ridgewood gets is below market rent!! That is a tenant/ landlord relationship NOT a partnership!!
