Driver Dies in Overturned Dump Truck Crash on I-287 in Oakland

Oakland NJ, a truck driver died on Thursday when the dump truck he was driving overturned on Interstate 287. NJ State police say that the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Interstate 287 South in Oakland.
The driver was identified as 56-year-old Ronald Appel, of Riverdale. Police say the dump truck struck a guardrail and the truck overturned. He died in the crash. Parts of I-287 were closed for a time, backing up traffic. The roadway has since reopened.

  1. Yeah, well maybe they can slow down a bit, instead of doing 85 miles an hour in the truck, some of these guys are nuts. I blame the bosses, not the drivers, because the bosses are pushing his drivers.

  3. Yeah, if he did have a heart attack, I want to be surprised it’s from the stress from company owners are always pushing their drivers. It’s a known fact it’s all about how many loads they can do. That’s why they’re Kruzan 85 miles an hour. Remember, the speed limit on this highway is all for cars, not trucks, and yet the state police will pull over someone in a fancy car, cruising at 80, but yet, let the trucks do 80or more miles an hour .
