Paramus NJ, starting in 2025, Paramus Mayor Christopher DiPiazza will establish a Commuter Engagement Task Force Commission to tackle the challenges faced by residents who commute to New York City for work. This initiative aims to gather input directly from commuters and explore local solutions to improve their daily journeys.

“I’m excited that, in 2025, Mayor DiPiazza will be establishing a Commuter Engagement Task Force to better advocate for improvements to the commuter experience from Paramus to NYC,” said Councilman Ace Antonio.

Addressing Commuter Concerns

Mayor DiPiazza emphasized the growing importance of addressing commuter issues, particularly as hybrid work schedules have led to an increase in Paramus residents traveling to New York City.

“I have spoken to numerous residents and have received plenty of emails from commuters asking what we can do to help,” the mayor said. “This round table will allow us to better hear their experiences and see what we can do at the local level to improve their experiences.”

Paramus, historically not known as a commuter hub, has seen a significant shift since the pandemic. With many former New York City residents now calling Paramus home while working in the city, the demand for improved commuting options has grown.

What the Task Force Will Do

The task force will function like Paramus Borough Council meetings, providing an open forum for discussion between residents, the mayor, and local officials. Topics may include transportation options, parking challenges, and other factors impacting commuters’ quality of life.

“Hundreds of new residents have moved from New York City to Paramus,” said Mayor DiPiazza. “We hope to explore options as a council and with residents on the committee to address their concerns.”

Get Involved

The committee is open to all Paramus residents who commute to New York City. Those interested in joining can email Mayor DiPiazza at cdipiazza@paramusborough.org by January 6, 2025.

By collaborating with residents, this new initiative aims to make commuting smoother and enhance the overall experience for those balancing life in Paramus with work in New York City.
