Hackensack NJ, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand medical services outside the hospital setting, Hackensack Meridian Health has signed a lease for 8,122 square feet of space at 360 Essex Street in Hackensack.

This lease, with Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, adds to the 85,000 square feet already occupied by Hackensack Meridian for physicians’ private practices at the Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building. The space, previously home to a Duane Reade pharmacy, now brings the building to 100% occupancy.

Convenient Access to Care

Located directly across from Hackensack University Medical Center, the Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building offers both medical and retail spaces. The building houses tenants such as Starbucks, Bank of America, and BITE Food & Coffee Co., ensuring convenience for patients and visitors.

New Services to Meet Community Needs

Hackensack Meridian Health is currently evaluating the best use for the newly leased space. According to Jose Lozano, Chief Growth Officer, the goal is to expand ambulatory care services to enhance community access to healthcare.

“We’re expanding beyond the four walls of the hospital. It could range from specialties to physical therapy or urgent care,” said Lozano. “We’re trying to figure out what the community needs most, so they don’t physically have to come onto the hospital campus.”

Hackensack Meridian’s Recent Growth

Hackensack Meridian Health has been steadily expanding its presence, focusing on providing care closer to where people live:

  • In 2023, the health network opened the 530,000-square-foot Helena Theurer Pavilion, adding 24 operating rooms, 72 recovery beds, and 175 private medical and surgical beds.
  • Last year, it launched a 150,000-square-foot health center in Paramus.
  • An 80,000-square-foot center in Clifton is set to open in spring 2024.

Improving Patient Access & Convenience

By expanding its ambulatory care network, Hackensack Meridian aims to reduce the need for hospital visits, making healthcare more accessible and convenient for local residents.

With the new Essex Street location, Hackensack Meridian is continuing its mission of enhancing healthcare accessibility across New Jersey.
