Wyckoff NJ, a bizarre and dangerous accident in Wyckoff, New Jersey, on September 18 led to a major traffic disruption and multiple summonses for a dump truck driver. The incident occurred when the main body of a dump truck became entangled with overhead wires, leaving a portion of the vehicle “airborne.”

According to Wyckoff police Lt. Joseph Soto, the crash happened around 1:47 p.m. on Wyckoff Avenue. The driver, a 46-year-old man from Kearny, was leaving a parking lot but failed to lower the truck’s rear bed. The raised bed caught the overhead wires, causing the vehicle to get stuck and sending the truck’s body into the air.

A Coordinated Cleanup Effort

The chaotic scene required a coordinated response from multiple agencies. PSE&G crews were called to the scene to ensure the wires were safe, while a heavy-duty wrecker was brought in to carefully free the truck. The Wyckoff Police and Fire Departments also assisted in managing the scene and directing traffic.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the driver was issued several summonses, including for unsafe vehicle, careless driving, and obstructing traffic.

The crash caused a significant disruption, with the cleanup taking several hours. This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of vigilance and proper vehicle operation, especially for commercial drivers.
