Ridgewood NJ, In the hallways of George Washington Middle School (GWMS), safety isn’t just about protocols—it’s about people. This year, the Ridgewood Public Schools community is getting to know a familiar face with an impressive legacy: Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO) Class III Anthony Losito.

Officer Losito isn’t your average security presence. With over a quarter-century of experience under his belt, he is bringing a unique blend of veteran expertise and mentorship to the students of Ridgewood.

From Passaic County to Ridgewood Schools

Before joining the Village, Officer Losito spent more than 25 years with the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office. Now, as one of three retired officers serving the district, he’s applying that lifetime of training to a new mission: fostering a secure and positive learning environment for the next generation.

“I take great pride in working with students, teachers, and staff every day,” says Losito. “My primary goal is to maintain a safe environment while fostering strong, positive relationships within the school community.”

More Than Just a Uniform: The Power of Mentorship

For Officer Losito, the most rewarding part of the job happens between classes. Whether it’s a high-five in the hallway or learning a student’s name, he views his role as a positive role model first and foremost.

  • Relationship Building: Creating a space where students feel comfortable approaching law enforcement.

  • Daily Impact: “Students smiling and saying hello… those moments make every day meaningful,” Losito shares.

  • Safety First: Providing expert-level security backed by decades of professional service.

Life Beyond the Badge

When he’s not patrolling the halls of GWMS, Officer Losito is a family man through and through. A devoted husband and a father of six, he understands the importance of school safety from a parent’s perspective. The Losito household is rounded out by Autumn, their energetic Goldendoodle, who ensures there’s never a dull moment at home.
