Ridgewood NJ, Move over, standard red sauce joints—Morsetto Italian Kitchen is serving up Roman-style pizza and handmade pasta inspired by Italy’s UNESCO-recognized culinary heritage.

If you’ve been craving a true “journey through Italy” without the price of a flight to Bari, downtown Ridgewood has a new destination for you. Morsetto Italian Kitchen, located at 29 Chestnut Street, officially opened its doors in late March, bringing the rustic, sun-drenched flavors of Southern Italy to the heart of Bergen County.

From Puglia to Ridgewood: The Vision of Chef Francesco Curci

Led by the talented Chef Francesco Curci, Morsetto isn’t just another Italian restaurant; it’s a tribute to the Puglia region. Known for its “Cucina Povera” (peasant cooking), Puglian cuisine relies on high-quality, simple ingredients and time-honored techniques.

The timing couldn’t be better. With Italian cuisine recently being recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Morsetto leans into this legacy, focusing on recipes passed down through generations.

On the Menu: Roman Crunch and Southern Comfort

Morsetto bridges the gap between the crispy streets of Rome and the hearty kitchens of the South. Here is what’s already generating buzz:

  • Handcrafted Panzerotti: Think of these as a mini, elevated calzone—lightly crisped dough filled with fresh mozzarella and tangy tomatoes.

  • Authentic Roman-Style Pizza: Famous for its thin, airy, and ultra-crispy crust.

  • Signature Pastas: From silky Carbonara to Bucatini with Guanciale, the pasta is a masterclass in balance and tradition.

  • Must-Try Antipasti: Don’t miss the Focaccia Pugliese, grilled octopus, or the creamy burrata.

“MORSETTO is more than a restaurant; it is a space where tradition meets passion… where the love for Italian food is not just tasted, but lived.”Morsetto Italian Kitchen

Plan Your Visit to Morsetto Italian Kitchen

Whether you’re looking for a quick porchetta sandwich for lunch or a slow-simmered Sunday dinner ending with their “legendary” tiramisu, Morsetto fits the bill.

  1. Atmosphere looks great and so does the food. Parking on that street is the worst albeit the famous garage is not too far along with other walkable lots. But I just cannot believe the NYC prices restaurants are charging. $23 on avg for a pizza and they are small/personalized X 2 in your party, + an app or a salad, + drinks, +3% fee for what I have no idea and a tip and now you just spent $100. And, say you go there 1 time every 3 months. Now you are up to $400-$500. Would you like to spend money on pizza or take that money and use it for the upcoming additional taxes that the VC is proposing, or both. #disposableincomeinRW #discountsfortheaginginplace

    1. What happened to if you don’t have anything nice to say…Then don’t say anything at all. Your grievance or dis can be applied to the cost of dining out in general these days or was itthe fact ya had to park and walk. Perhaps if you can’t afford to dine out stay home and cook. Don’t see why you vented on this restaurants page!

    2. Solution: move.

  2. How many more restaurants does the village need? Geesh

    1. What the village really needs is a combo restaurant, bank, and barber shop.

And it should be owned by a former real housewife of NJ.
