
Blooming Marvelous: Volunteers Transform Downtown Ridgewood for Summer 2026

Ridgewood NJ, If you’ve taken a stroll through the Central Business District recently, you might have noticed a vibrant burst of color. That fresh, welcoming summer vibe is all thanks to a passionate group of local residents who traded their Saturday morning sleep-in for gardening gloves and trowels.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the village officially kicked off its seasonal prep with the annual Ridgewood Planting Day.
More than 25 dedicated members of the Ridgewood Beautification Team, local resident volunteers, and the village Parks Division staff gathered at Van Neste Square at 7:45 AM sharp, ready to get their hands dirty for the community.

The event proved that you don’t need to be a master gardener to make a massive impact on your hometown—you just need a little community spirit.

A Team Effort to Keep the Village Vibrant
By the time the lunch bells rang, the entire business district had received a gorgeous spring and summer face-lift. Dozens of sidewalk planters were cleared of winter debris and filled with fresh, thriving flowers that will bloom throughout the sunny months ahead.
