Hillsdale NJ, A massive structure fire broke out in Hillsdale shortly before 1:00 a.m., drawing an extensive mutual aid response from across Bergen County. Firefighters faced challenging conditions and an intense volume of flames as they fought to bring the early morning blaze under control.
Crews Shift to Defensive Mode to Protect Neighboring Homes
Upon arriving at the scene at 116 Piermont Avenue, Hillsdale Fire Department Chief Farrell immediately recognized the severity of the situation. With the residence already heavily engulfed in flames, Chief Farrell quickly requested a Working Fire Assignment, calling in surrounding mutual aid companies for urgent assistance.

As the operation progressed, additional regional mutual aid resources poured into the scene. These visiting departments provided critical:
-
Fresh manpower to relieve exhausted crews

Specialized fire apparatus
-
Dedicated water supply support
Thanks to the seamless coordination and diligent work of all first responders involved, the challenging blaze was successfully brought under control.
Injuries and Investigation Status
Officials confirmed that 6 minor injuries were sustained during the incident. All injured individuals were promptly treated by emergency medical personnel and transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
The exact cause of the midnight blaze remains unknown and is currently under active investigation.
In a statement following the incident, the Hillsdale Fire Department expressed its deep gratitude to the Bergen County dispatchers, emergency medical teams, law enforcement officers, and all assisting mutual aid agencies for their rapid and professional response.
