Run for Ridgewood Village Council: Nominating Packets Now Available for 2026 Election

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — If you have ever wanted to take a direct role in shaping the future of your community, now is your chance. The Village of Ridgewood has officially opened the application window for local residents interested in running for a seat on the Ridgewood Village Council.

Two full, four-year terms on the nonpartisan governing body are up for grabs in the upcoming municipal election, offering a major opportunity for fresh leadership to guide village infrastructure, local governance, and community policy.

How to Pick Up and File Your Nomination Packet

To qualify for the ballot, interested candidates must act quickly to gather signatures and fulfill official requirements.

  • Where to Pick Up Packets: Nominating packets are available in person at the Village Clerk’s Office, located on the fifth floor of Ridgewood Village Hall (131 North Maple Avenue).

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (excluding legal holidays).

  • Filing Deadline: All completed nominating petitions and mandatory election forms must be filed with the Village Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Important Election Dates and Requirements

To run for office, candidates must be registered voters residing within the Village of Ridgewood.

The nonpartisan Municipal Election is scheduled for November 3, 2026. In an effort to streamline voter turnout, the local election will be held in conjunction with the standard November General Election. The two winning candidates chosen by voters will be officially sworn into office to begin their four-year terms in January 2027.
