Help Needed: Stray Pit Bull Puppy Rescued by Newark Light Rail Operator Needs to Find Its Owner

Newark NJ, A heartwarming but urgent rescue mission is underway in Newark after a sharp-eyed transit worker saved a lost puppy from the tracks .
Around 8:00 AM, a Newark Light Rail operator spotted a stray pit bull puppy wandering near the Davenport Ave light rail station. Recognizing the immediate danger to the animal, the operator safely brought the pup on board the train, transported it to Newark Penn Station, and immediately contacted law enforcement.
## Friendly and Well-Cared-For Puppy Currently Safe
New Jersey Transit Police Department (NJTPD) District 2 patrol officers quickly responded to take custody of the dog.
According to officers, the young pit bull is incredibly friendly, clean, and appears to be very well cared for, suggesting he has a family missing him terribly. While the puppy is wearing a collar, it unfortunately lacks any tags, contact details, or owner identifiers.
## Turned Over to Associated Humane Societies in Newark
NJTPD patrol officers kept the puppy at the station for as long as possible, hoping an owner would step forward. When no one arrived, the pup was safely transferred to a local shelter.
The puppy is now in the care of the Associated Humane Societies, located at 124 Evergreen Ave, Newark, NJ.
